Spanning decades in the beauty industry, I have had the privilege of working with clients across a diverse range of skin tones, types and ages. As a specialist in television makeup, I have worked with some of the most influential names in music, politics and broadcasting.
"Sajata," which means, 'to adorn' in Hindi, has traveled the world to promote beauty. Her interest began early, watching closely as her mother applied her makeup for work. Later, she would sit perched on her mother’s vanity, mixing & creating colors, trying to give herself a more glamorous look!
THE EVOLUTION OF SAJATA
Sajata was offered a coveted position at the prestigious Kenneth Salon. Kenneth was renowned for his work with First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis hairstylist during her time in the White House. At Kenneth Salon, Sajata refined her skills as a makeup artist and continued to develop her signature approach to beauty.
Sajata crafted an Emmy Award-winning career as a broadcast news makeup artist and built a diverse portfolio that included serving as the personal makeup artist for renowned ABC News journalist Barbara Walters for eight years. Her career later expanded across the Atlantic, where she toured throughout Europe as the international makeup artist-spokesperson for Juvena of Switzerland, one of Europe's leading beauty companies.
Sajata continued to make her mark in the entertainment industry by working with the legendary Apollo Theater. There, she had the opportunity to be part of the iconic "It's Showtime at The Apollo " stage, creating looks for a new generation of rising stars, including a young Queen Latifah, LLCool J, and a constellation of celebrated performers who grace the Apollo stage.
A TRUE PASSION FOR BEAUTY
Although Sajata initially envisioned a career as an art teacher, she soon realized that her passion for makeup was far stronger! Guided by an unwavering passion she cultivated an extraordinary career that has earned her the trust of some of the world's most recognizable faces. Sajata has worked with A-list celebrities including Diana Ross, Eartha Kitt, Ozzie Davis, Sean Connery and Dionne Warwick, among many others.
